Gary Felton is a Certified Professional Photographer

What is a Certified Professional Photographer?

This is your way to know your wedding photographer is qualified to photograph your special day. There is nothing that prevents someone from pretending to be a professional wedding photographer.  So how can the consumer know who to trust?  Fortunately, the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), in conjunction with the Professional Photographic Certification Commission, the world’s leading certification agency for imaging professionals, created the certification process. This commission is part of the same organization that certifies lawyers (bar) and public accountants (CPA).

There are many people who buy a camera and claim to be a wedding photographer. Why risk such important photographs to somebody who has not proven they can deliver? A Certified Professional Wedding Photographer has passed a written exam. But book knowledge is not enough! Photos from 20 events are sent to a jury of photographers to be judged. Only after the photographer's work has passed does the photographer become certified. Finally, a Certified Professional Wedding Photographer must continue to maintain his/her certification by attending professional photographer continuing education workshops and be re-certified every five years.  Certification can be your assurance that you are dealing with a professional photographer who is dedicated to providing you with professional service.

What packages do you offer, what is included in each package, and what are the prices for your packages? To make it as easy as possible to shop for your wedding photography needs, we have developed our package/price calculator. Keep in mind that our packages represent the best value at a 15-20% savings over a la carte ("My Wedding Package"). Go to our price calculator now.

Can we keep our proofs?
Any proofs we send you are yours to keep.

Are there any watermarks or logos on our proofs? No.

How far in advance should we book a destination wedding photographer? If you want a particular day, the sooner the better. We do not book more than one wedding in a day.

What locations will you go to? St John? Water Island? BVI?
We can go anyplace. St Thomas or Water Island has no additional fees for travel. St John requires a modest travel fee for weddings of one or two hours. Otherwise, there are no travel fees. Other areas, such as the BVI, we would need to quote you on a case-by-case basis.

Do you have a payment schedule? How much is expected when we book you to shoot our wedding?
We require a 50% deposit to book your date. The remainder is due the day of the wedding.

What is your experience and credentials?
Check out our bio page. It lists my credentials. But to sum it up simply for you, we have more experience and proper training than any other photographer in the Caribbean and most in the states.

Can we see testimonials or can you provide satisfied referrals from other couples?
Yes. Just ask.

What is your policy on travel cancellations? If we are unable to get to the Virgin Islands due to bad weather, what is your cancellation policy?
We do not make refunds within 30 days of the date, but will reschedule for you as long as we have the date open. I suggest getting insurance to cover all your vendors.

Can you refer us to other wedding professionals, such as officiates, florists, and hair stylists?
Please see our vendor’s page at “vendors we like.” We are not paid any commission for doing this. We do it as a service to you and only recommend people in which we have faith. As photographers, we work with many different vendors and wedding planners. We get to see firsthand what works.

What suggestions do you have for us in the way of location, time, and attire?
It really is hard to miss down here as far as locations go. They are all very nice, but some are better certain times of the day for light and/or crowds. The first and last two hours of the day have the best light for photography. But with proper lighting techniques, we can shoot at any time. Dress as lightly as possible, as it can be very warm down here.

What methods of payment do you accept?
Most major credit cards, check or cash.
